Gord Stimmell – Toronto Star
From a Canadian-Aussie collaboration this is definitely jazzy. Blackberry, minty blueberry and cedar aromas lead into a silky textured red with gobs of upfront blackberry and blueberry fruit. If you want this to sing, let is a breath a bit fist. Food suggestion: Big Steaks
Rating: 90

Rod Phillips – Ottawa Citizen
There are also some stocks of an exceptional Australian shiraz, Jazz Wines “The Shiraz” 2005. It has concentrated flavours, as you’d expect, but it has some minerality and the intensity of the flavours are lifted by very good acidity. Unlike too many shirazes, this is excellent with food and I’d drink it with a meal of grilled lamb chops.

Zoltan Szabo - Sommellier
Well structured and balanced. Black cherry, blueberry, plums, some herbal and spicy, cardamom accents on its bouquet and palate. Medium bodied and juicy, with soft and sweet tannins adding structure. An appealing Shiraz. Great with BBQ steaks, roasts and such. Under screwcap, so just “crack” and drink! Back label peels off for the benefit of those of you, gourmands, who love collecting!

Rick Van Sickle – Wine Writer Toronto Sunday Sun, Calgary Sun
Jazz Wines The Shiraz 2005 ($25 Vintages). This is a brand new wine from an up-start producer with a Canadian connection that’s promising more to come. If the debut wine is any indication, you’ll see a run on future Jazz bottlings.

Well structured and balanced...

Natalie MacLean – Nat Decants
2005 Jazz Wines The Shiraz South Australia: A well-balanced, full-bodied wine with rich layers of black fruit aromas. Pair with: roasted lamb. 14% XD 750 mL $24.75 Score: 90/100.

Michael Vaughn – Wine Critic, Vintage Assessments
THE SHIRAZ 2005 South Australia Tasting Note: Jazz Wines Deep intense purple colour. Slightly spicy, gently juicy, black cherry nose with some vanilla notes. Dry, slightly spicy, medium to medium-full bodied, dried ripe plum and dusty black cherry flavours with a lingering, very bright, cedary finish. Screwcap closure.
