Origins : Beechworth
About
Beechworth is a region surrounding Mount Stanley in the North East Victoria Zone. The high elevation is linked to both climate and soil, with large variability between lower and higher parts of the region. Likewise, rainfall increases with altitude but humidity decreases. Difficult circumstances for irrigation limit the poetential size of vineyards. The region is most suited to cool climate varietals such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, other notable plantings include Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvginon and Gamay.
