Origins : Coonawarra
About
Coonawarra, a wine region in the Limestone Coast Zone, includes some of the most expensive viticulture land in Australia. This wealth is owed in large part to the region’s terra rosa soil, vivid red, friable clay or loam and lying on top a bed of soft limestone. Also important is a limestone ridge providing drainage on the otherwise flat land.
The dry, moderately cool climate of the Coonawarra region resembles that of Bordeaux, appropriately producing renowned Cabernet Sauvignon.
