Origins : Geelong
About
Geelong is a wine region in the Port Phillips Zone. It has a long, tumultuous history, as one of the first areas to be wiped out by phylloxera. It has reemerged more recently with cool region varietals, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and warmer region varietals Shiraz and Cabernet leading the way. This martime-influenced region falls climatically between Bordeaux and Burgundy. Site selection is crucial as the terrain ranges from river flats, river terraces to steep rolling hillsides.
