Origins : Mornington Peninsula
About
Mornington Peninsula is a popular region, full of small wineries, located among the hills of pine and eucalyptus forests, one hour south-east of Melbourne in Victoria. There four principal soil types, yellow duplex soils, red volcanic soils, brown duplex soils and sandy soils.
The cool, maritime climate of Mornington Peninsula, has been compared to Burgundy and as such is well suited for slow-ripening grapes and is particularly noted for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris.
