Origins : Murray Darling 2
About
Murray-Darling is a wine region that crosses the state lines from Victoria into New South Wales. This dry, hot region has long sun hours and low rainfall making irrigation a necessity. The soil is calcerous earth, ranging from brown to red brown loamy sand. This large swath of land has close to 20,000ha of vineyards planted. Traditionally strong in fortified wine production, the region produces soft, fruity Chardonnay and has experienced a dramatic rise in red wine plantings.
