Origins : Porongurup
About
The Kalgan River forms the eastern boundary of the Porongurup Sub-region in Western Australia. The sub-regions’ vineyards are grown on “karri” soil, loams which are formed from weathered granite, above clay subsoil.
Similar to the other sub-regions in Great Southern Region, the climate in Porongurp is Mediterranean but develops a thermal zone, or a layer of warm night air, reducing the temperature variability.
