Origins : Riverina
About
The largest wine producing region of New South Wales, Riverina is the second largest wine producing region in all of Australia.
Due to a climate is hot and dry with winter dominant rainfall, around 400 mm a year, Riverina relies on irrigation from the Murrumbidgee River. Grape growing is reliable and yields are moderate to high with a minimal disease load, allowing minimal impact vineyard management systems resulting in consistent high quality wines over the years.
The terrain is generally flat although some major developments are occurring on the sloping rangelands. Deriving in part from ancient streambeds, the soils are variable, ranging from red sandy earths to brown clay loams. Riverina is well known for Botrytis Semillon, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
