Origins : Rutherglen
About
Rutherglen is a region at the northern tip of North East Victoria Zone, along the border of New South Wales. The climate is strongly continental with hot summer days and cold nights. Spring frosts and autumn rains can pose challenges for local wine makers. Gentle hills of loam provide ideal setting for the regions fortified wines. Conversely, to the north of the region, sandy flats provide setting more fitting table wine varietals. The region is known for its rich, sweet Muscat and Tokay.
