The Southern Highlands is an emerging wine region in New South Wales, 100 km southwest of Sydney.
Generally cool, moist and slightly humid, the region has a moderately continental climate with mild summers and cool winters. Its soils are red and brown krasnozems and red earth derived from basalt, red and brown podsols and earth from shales.
The varietals of the this region include Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon.
