Origins : Western Victoria
About
Western Victoria, just an hour west of Melbourne, includes the Ballarat region, the Grampian region, the foothills and ranges of the Pyrenees Mountain region and the coastal Henty region. This vast area ranges in climate, altitude and soil types. Though it is known more for its cool-climate varietals such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling, the region also produces full-bodied Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
