About Malbec
Malbec, produced mostly in the Cahors region of France and Argentia, produces a light, mellow wine, often used as a blend to soften harder wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon. There are over four hundred different synonums for Malbec hinting at its historic popularity. Currently, Malbec has found a home as the primary grape of Argentina.
The thin-skinned grape with large berries, need lots of sunlight and heat to reach full maturity. Malbec is susceptible to rot in cool and wet conditions and is also very sensitive to frost.
An excellent Malbec can give the aromas of cherry, plum, raisins, coffee, chocolate, leather and raspberry; flavours can develop into plum, cherry, chocolate, dried fruits, and balsamic.
