About Mataro
Mataro, also known as Mourvedre, is used in the production of red wine. Originating in the Catalonia region of Spain, Mourvdre is one of thirteen grape varietals allowed in Chateauneuf-du-Pape wines.
Mataro is has a smooth, medium weight, and a medium body, with a rich red color. Tannins can range from moderate to high. A fine Mataro will exhibit hints of fruit, berry, black plumb, leather, herbs, peppercorn, and tree bark.
