Varietal : Riesling
About Riesling
Riesling is a crisp, refreshing, versatile, white wine varietal. The German grape, first documented in 1435, produces a wide spectrum of wines from dry to sweet. Rieslings are known to clearly express their terroir often yielding hints of minerals, slate and stone. Young Rieslings often have fruity flavors of citris, apple, pear and peach with floral undertones, With time, the wines can acquire tones of petrol and kerosene.
Riesling varietals produce rich, sweet, late-harvest and noble rot wines. These concentrated wines have more sugar and more acid offering an intense flavor and a good complexity. Riesling wines are rarely oaked giving them a smooth acidity.
