About Shiraz

Shiraz, or Syrah, is a small berried, red wine grape, from the northern Rhone regions and is the main grape in such wines as Cornas, Cote Rotie, and Hermitage.

Very popular in Australia, Shiraz typically produces full-bodied, powerfully flavored wine with aromas ranging from violets to berries, chocolate, espresso, licorice, and black pepper.

With its soft ripe tannins, Shiraz wine can be suitable for immediate consumption. However a subtle character is tasted in wines with longevity that show layers of increasing complexity with age. With time, primary notes are moderated and supplemented with earthy or savory notes such as leather and truffle.

Popular Regions: France(Rhone), Australia, Canada(British Columbia), South Africa, United States (California)

Other Names: Syranne, Serine, Hignin Noir
