About Zinfandel
Zinfandel is a wine grape, often associated with California, that is believed to be either the Italian grape Primitivo or the red Plavac Mali Grape. Vintners originally used much of the Zinfandel crop to produce sweet, blush-colored White Zinfandels.
More recent popularity of dry reds has shifted the production, inspiring quality, complex wine with fruity vigor and lush texture.
Full bodied, and inky in color, red Zinfandel exhibits aromatic hints of cherry, blackberry, black raspberry, cedar and peppercorns. The wines have high to medium tannins and low acidity.
